The Surgical Robotics Lab (SRL) is part of the Department of Biomechanical Engineering (Faculty of Engineering Technology) at the University of Twente, The Netherlands.

SRL is led by Prof. Sarthak Misra. We are also part of the Department of Biomaterials and Biomedical Technology at the University of Groningen and University Medical Center Groningen. SRL is affiliated with the MESA+ Institute, Technical Medical (TechMed) Centre, and PRECISION Institute.

We design a range of flexible minimally invasive surgical instruments and microrobotic systems, and robotically control them using various clinical imaging modalities such as ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance images. SRL has a dynamic research agenda, and we consist of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, clinicians, and industrial collaborators. We focus on developing innovative solutions for a broad range of clinically-relevant challenges.

We are always looking for motivated students interested in Master’s- or Bachelor’s-level projects in the general area of surgical robotics.
