Sarthak Misra has been awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant worth 2.35 million euros. This grant will be used for the MAESTRO research project. Previously, Prof. Misra has been awarded the ERC Starting (2014) and Proof-of-Concept grants (2017).
The goal of MAESTRO (Magneto-Acoustically Engineered Steerable Robots) is to design a magneto-acoustic robotic system that will enable precise delivery of a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic micro-agents using ultrasound and fluorescence images. The bio-inspired micro-agents could be coated with drugs or bio-sensors.
The ERC’s mission is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, on the basis of scientific excellence.
The ERC Consolidator Grants are awarded to outstanding researchers of any nationality and age, with at least seven and up to twelve years of experience after PhD, and a scientific track record showing great promise. Research must be conducted in a public or private research organisation located in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries.
